Our Highest Value - Safety

We Will Never Compromise On Safety For Our Employees
and the Communities We Serve

Safety First

The safety of our employees, customers, communities, and the environment is our highest priority. Employees and contractors receive safety and environmental training appropriate for their roles and responsibilities and SEFA provides all PPE. We recognize and reward employees for their safe behaviors at work through a peer-recognition safety program, and we promote safety through targeted safety programs.

The employees of SEFA are responsible for safety and maintaining zero tolerance for unsafe actions and conditions. A healthy and injury-free workplace is sustained by the behaviors that consistently demonstrate our commitment to the welfare of each other, our contractors and customers, and the communities we serve.

Safety Policies

  • Recognize and accept management responsibility to institute guidelines of the accident prevention program.

  • Emphasize to all supervisors their personal responsibility to enforce safe working procedures and conditions with their employees.

  • Conduct all company operations in a manner to comply with the requirements of OSHA, EPA, DOT, MSHA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Encourage employees to report any unsafe work procedures or conditions without fear of reprisal.

  • Conduct an ongoing safety program with appropriate documentation as evidence of our commitment to provide a safe workplace and our desire to control unnecessary losses.

  • Consider Safety as a shared responsibility for all employees and contractors.

  • Require and provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the safety of our teams and our guests.

Transportation Safety

Our transportation fleet drivers receive Smith System Training, in addition to SEFA’s safety training, and are required to renew their safety training every two years. In our fleet and at our truck terminals, we continuously add safety features and technologies to protect our team members and the motoring public.

Drivers conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify their truck’s condition and check for any maintenance concerns. 95% of our trucks are less than five years old and have advanced, near-zero emissions technology. SEFA Transportation complies with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

STAR® Plant Safety

Through design, construction, maintenance and operation of our facilities, we follow strict health, safety, and environmental plans. STAR Plants are designed with the latest control technologies to ensure the health and safety of workers, communities, and the environment. Modern emissions monitoring and control equipment meets or exceeds state and federal environmental regulations to protect air quality.
